One of the most unlucky cricketers, Sanju Samson, returns after heartbreak from not being included in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Now, he’s back with the Indian team, donning the Indian jersey against England for the 5-match T20I series. It will be a new beginning for Samson because he has to prove himself again. It must be heartbreaking for him to be excluded from the ICC event after contributing greatly to the team over the past year.
Samson’s amazing 2024 with India
Sanju Samson has been having a great time with the Indian team. The last year has been really amazing for him, as he scored three centuries for the team. In the last match he played against South Africa, he scored an unbeaten 109 runs. He ended as the leading top scorer in T20Is for India in 2024 with 436 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 180.16
Sanju Samson is coming back to the team without having played any domestic cricket recently. Controversy arose around his name in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for not attending the camp. His last match was on 3rd December in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Andhra Pradesh, where he scored 7 runs.

What’s next for Samson?
He hopes for a good start to 2025 because this will be his first match of the year, and of course, he will be in the spotlight. As a first-choice wicketkeeper for the team, he is likely to secure a place in the playing XI, making it interesting to watch.
Samson has to prove his worth again because, after being snubbed from the Champions Trophy, he might be disappointed and not playing any domestic cricket could have lowered his morale. It will be interesting to see how Sanju steps up and plays top-class cricket for India in the series.
Eyes on next ICC event?
Since he has been left out of the 2025 Champions Trophy, another ICC event has slipped by for him. He will be aiming for the next ICC event, which is the T20 World Cup. Since he has been playing T20 and performing well for the team, it could be a new beginning for Samson to secure his place in next year’s World Cup. Starting his campaign right now would be a really good opportunity for him.
