In what could be a big blow for Texas Super Kings, South Africa cricket team pacer Nandre Burger has been ruled out of Major Cricket League (MLC 2026). The fast-bowler featured in just two games for TSK in the ongoing edition of the tournament where he picked up just 1 wicket while conceding 40 runs. Burger has been replaced by fellow Proteas star Dian Forrester in the squad for the rest of MLC 2026.
Burger ruled out of MLC 2026
As per an official announcement made by TSK, Burger will need a prolonged period of rest and rehabilitation after scans revealed a pre-existing stress reaction in his back. The South African pacer featured in two games – vs Seattle Orcas and San Francisco – before he missed the third game against MI New York and was replaced by Adam Milne in the playing XI. Burger is no stranger to back injuries as he has been out of action multiple times in the past due to the same issue.
Prior to MLC 2026, the South African fast-bowler featured in 13 matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 in which he picked up 14 wickets. Burger, who has been with Texas Super Kings for two seasons now, has played 13 MLC matches in which he has picked up as many wickets.
Texas Super Kings have named Dian Forrester as Burger’s replacement for the rest of MLC 2026. The batting all-rounder, who made his international debut earlier this year, was named as an injury replacement for Jamie Overton in CSK towards the end of IPL 2026. Prior to that, he featured in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) where he scored 132 runs and picked up 2 wickets in 6 matches while playing for Rawalpindiz. Forrester has played 39 T20s in which he has managed to bag 14 scalps and score 750 runs.
