Sourav Ganguly backs inclusion of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in India squad for T20 World Cup

Sourav Ganguly lavishes praises for Virat Kohli and lauds India's heroics in South Africa

Sourav Ganguly has claimed that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should be in the India Squad for T20 World Cup. The former India Cricket Team captain has heaped praises for Team India after their heroics in South Africa. Furthermore, he has stated that Rohit should be leading the side in T20 World Cup.

India returns home after some incredible performance in South Africa. India won the ODI series, drew the T20I and the Test series against the Proteas. But now as the attention turns towards the T20 World Cup, the highlights are on the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the shortest format of the game.

“India is a great team. If India lose one game, then people go on to say that the team is very bad. They won the ODI series, a 1-1 in T20Is and in the Tests. What more do you need,” said Sourav Ganguly.

“Rohit should be the captain. Of course, Virat Kohli is an outstanding player,” replied Ganguly when asked should Virat be also in the team after not having played for 14 months in T20Is.

India Cricket Team’s next assignment is a 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Though the squad is yet to be announced, it is expected that both Rohit and Virat will be back in the squad for the shortest format of the game.

After the series against the Pathans, India will go head to head with England for a 5-match Test series at home.
