Indian cricket stars Smriti Mandhana and Ishan Kishan showcased their intellect in KBC, clinching the grand finale week spotlight.

In a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Indian cricket stars Smriti Mandhana and Ishan Kishan showcased their intellect, clinching the grand finale week spotlight. The duo, winning ₹12.5 lakhs, navigated through various questions, adding a thrilling cricket twist to the show.

Smriti Mandhana, the Indian Women’s cricket team vice-captain, and Ishan Kishan, a consistent player in the Men’s cricket squad, graced the KBC stage on Christmas day. Their impressive run on the quiz show culminated in a ₹12.5 lakhs prize win, concluding at question number 13.

The climax of their KBC journey involved a cricket-centric question, the 12th in the sequence, worth ₹12,50,000. The question that tested their cricket knowledge was: “Which Indian cricketer made his Test debut in the same match in which Sachin Tendulkar scored his first international century?

Faced with options – Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, and Javagal Srinath; Smriti and Ishan strategically used the “call a friend” lifeline, receiving a hint that leaned towards Javagal Srinath.

Not entirely convinced, the duo then opted for their final lifeline, allowing a second attempt if the first answer is incorrect. The correct answer, Anil Kumble, was eventually chosen on the second try.

Ishan Kishan, who recently returned from South Africa, where he skipped the Test series due to mental fatigue, exhibited his cricket acumen on the quiz.

Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana played a pivotal role in India’s historic Women’s Test victory against Australia, contributing significantly with her bat, scoring 74 and an unbeaten 38.

Reflecting on the historic win, Mandhana shared her perspective on the pitch: “Well, I think, it wasn’t that tough. When we saw the surface, it looked like a rank turner but batting wasn’t as hard.”

Smriti Mandhana is set to return to the cricket field on December 28 as India kicks off the three-match ODI series against Australia in Mumbai. The KBC episode not only showcased the cricket stars’ quiz prowess but also added an extra layer of excitement to the festivities.
