Sir Don Bradman’s record breached! Sri Lankan sensation Kamindu Mendis scores 1000 Test runs in 13 innings

Kamindu Mendis hammered 182* in the first innings of the second Sri Lanka vs New Zealand Test in Galle.

Pasqual Handi Kamindu Dilanka Mendis, famously known as Kamindu Mendis, grabbed headlines after his ambidextrous bowling for Sri Lanka. He bowled with both left and right arm in India’s last series in Sri Lanka. However, the 25-year-old is now making everyone’s jaw drop, courtesy of his ‘Bradman-like’ batting.

Dream run for Kamindu Mendis!

Can you imagine that Kamindu Mendis has scored at least a fifty in each of the 8 Test matches that he has played so far. He made a return to the Lankan Test team earlier this year in an away tour to Bangladesh. It was a fantastic comeback as Mendis mustered twin centuries in Syllhet before making an unbeaten 92 in the next game. Sri Lanka’s next Test tour came when they travelled to England. During that 3-match series, Mendis remained the highest run-getter (for Sri Lanka), hammering 267 runs at an average of 53.40.

And now, during Mendis’ marathon knock of 182*, he surpassed the 1000-run Test runs mark. It was his 13th innings, making him the joint-third fastest player to achieve the feat. He broke Sir Don Bradman’s record.
