Shubman Gill, Ravichandran Ashwin were among the record breakers in IND vs AUS 2nd ODI.

Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav were the stars with the bat, while Ravichandran Ashwin turned back the clock with ball as India registered a series-clinching win in IND vs AUS 2nd ODI at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on Sunday. Team India posted a mammoth 399 in 50 overs thanks to centuries from Shreyas Iyer (105) and Shubman Gill (104) at the start and Suryakumar Yadav’s brisk unbeaten 72 towards the end.

Chasing a DLS revised target of 317 runs in 33 overs after rain halt, Australia were bundled out for 217, giving India a 99-run win. Several records were made and broken during the match.

  • Shubman Gill surpassed veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan to become the fastest Indian player to score six centuries (35 innings).
  • Gill became the fifth batter to score five ODI hundreds in a calendar year before the age of 25.
  • The total of 399 was the highest ever total for India against Australia in ODIs. Their previous best was 383/6 in 2013.
  • Ravichandran Ashwin surpassed Anil Kumble to become the bowler with most wickets for India against Australia in international cricket (144).
  • Team India became the first team to hit 3000 sixes in ODIs.
  • Suryakumar Yadav smashes the fastest fifty by an Indian against Australia (24 balls).
  • This is India’s 51st bilateral ODI series win at home which is most by a team in history.

The third and final ODI will be played on September 27 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
