India cricket team Test skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are all set to miss the 2nd unofficial Test between India A and England Lions. Both batters were a part of Gujarat Titans who were knocked out of IPL 2025 after losing to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. The 2nd unofficial Test is scheduled to commence from June 6.

As per Times of India, a source claimed that both Gill and Sudharsan will skip the 2nd unofficial Test in order to recover from what was a long IPL 2025. The source added that both batters had already began practice with the red-ball to gear up for the five-match Test series against England.

Both Sai and Gil have been training with the red ball over the last few days. After a long tournament, they need some rest and recovery,” the source said.

The duo were initially named a part of the squad for the 2nd unofficial Test and were scheduled to travel to England by June 6.

Gill and Sudharsan, GT’s openers, were in prolific form in IPL 2025. While the GT skipper finished with 650 runs and averaging 50, his opening partner is the Orange Cap holder with 759 runs at an average of 54.21.

While Gill has been named as Rohit Sharma’s successor in Tests, Sai has earned his maiden call-up to the side. The 5-match series against England will commence from June 20 and will be preceded by an intra-squad match with India A.
