Shoaib Akhtar has openly challenged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that if he’s given entire control of domestic cricket, he’ll fix all the issues the Pakistan cricket team is currently facing. The remark comes after the Men in Green were knocked out of the ICC Champions Trophy, just six days after the tournament kicked off in Karachi.
Pakistan’s horror Champions Trophy campaign
Nothing seems to be working for Pakistan. Three balls into the tournament, they lost both of their main openers. Saim Ayub was already out, and then Fakhar Zaman sustained a knee injury while fielding. They forced Babar Azam to open in Saim’s absence, and it backfired.
Babar was one of the finest number three batters, and they moved him from there. In the ICC Champions Trophy, he failed in both games. Although he did score fifty, it was a match-losing knock. When he looked on against India, he fell into Hardik Pandya’s trap.
Mohammad Rizwan wasn’t at his best either, with the bat or as captain. His slow-paced knock against India got him flak. His claim that Pakistan had equal good spinners when compared with India was more infuriating. Then comes the fact that their pacers, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem, were extremely woeful. This prompted former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez to tell the PCB to drop them.

But Shoaib is certain he can help alleviate Pakistan of these problems, granted an opportunity. “Give me the domestic structure for three years; I’ll get it fixed. I’ll sacrifice my time with my kids and give it to Pakistan’s youth for three years,” Shoaib Akhtar said on PTV Sports.
