While Sarfaraz was expected to be released on Sunday evening, he will remain overnight as a precaution. As per Mumbai team sources, he will be available for selection for the match against Maharashtra on Tuesday.
Sarfaraz Khan is set to travel to Bangladesh with India A team. Before India Tour of Bangladesh, India A will play red and white-ball series against Bangladesh A. Sarfaraz is expected to be part of the squad which will be announced in the next couple of days.
While he was tipped to get a call-up to India’s Test team for the Bangladesh tour, the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee snubbed him for an experienced unit. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul besides Cheteshwar Pujara will all return after skipping the NZ series.
However, Sarfaraz Khan isn’t deterred with the snub. He recently led Mumbai to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title. While he is yet to make a mark in T20 cricket, a breakout IPL 2023 season could change that perception. He is currently in contract with Delhi Capitals.
“I’ve told him that when we started playing cricket, it was for the love of the game. We need to maintain that which is in our control. Even though it is difficult to motivate. This is all that we can do,” his father Naushad Khan told InsideSport.
He has advised Sarfaraz to control the controllable and maintain his love for the game.
