Sanju Samson’s dismissal sparks controversy during DC vs RR, animated Capitals owner gestures from stands

Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson’s dismissal sparked a controvery in DC vs RR game at Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. As Samson was nearing his hundred, he attempted a big hit but was caught out on the boundary, courtesy of a brilliant catch from Shai Hope. The catch turned out to be controversial as it was taken too close to the ropes.

However, replays from one angle showed that there was a gap between the fielder’s shoes and the boundary line and hence the out decision was upheld. Replays from other angles suggested so otherwise.

A seemingly angry Sanju Samson was seen having an animated conversation with the umpires after he was given out. Further, DC co-owner Parth Jindal was seen signalling from the stands that Samson was ‘out’.

After losing Buttler and Jaiswal early in the innings, Samson steadied the innings for RR along with Riyan Parag. The RR skipper dealt in boundaries, helping the side keep the required run-rate at bay. Samson smashed eight fours and 6 sixes en route to his 86-run knock off 46 deliveries.
