Sanju Samson has been in some woeful form in the T20Is, and his issues have been further highlighted before the T20 World Cup in Feb, during the IND vs NZ series, where he is yet to get a substantial score. In fact, such dismal has been his form, that he has managed 16 runs in three innings so far.
Sanju Samson’s Batting a Concern
There have even been talks of making Ishan Kishan as the main keeper for the World Cup, who has been in sublime form, and scored 80-odd in the 2nd T20I. But then it seems the management has a lot of faith in Sanju Samson’s abilities. And so reaffirmed bowling coach Morne Morkel.
“Sanju is one knock away from getting that confidence, getting that form back. For us, building up to the World Cup it’s important for the guys to find that peak performance at the right time. He’s training well, he’s hitting the ball very well,” Morkel said on the eve of the fourth T20I here.
Morkel Confident for T20 World Cup
On Tuesday, the Indian team had an optional training session, where Sanju spent 30 mins in the nets, facing the likes of Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and robo-arm throwdowns. Morkel reiterated that it was only a matter of time that Sanju bounced back to form.
“So, I think it’s just a matter of time for him to get his foot on the board. But the main focus is that the team is winning, and I think that’s important. We’re 3-0 up in this series at the moment, the boys are playing some very good cricket. We’ve got a couple of games now before the start of the World Cup, and I have no doubt that Sanju will find his form,” added the South African.
