The Rajasthan Royals (RR) will take a sigh of relief. Their captain, Sanju Samson, will recover in time for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Having suffered a blow on his right hand in Mumbai earlier this month, Samson underwent right index finger surgery yesterday (February 11). However, the estimated recovery time wasn’t revealed.
Samson Sanju to play IPL 2025
According to ESPNcricinfo, Samson is expected to be fit by the time the IPL 2025 season kicks off. The schedule for the 18th edition hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s been confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice president Rajeev Shukla that the opening match will be played on March 21.
It’s expected that it won’t take more than a month for Samson to recover. Considering the IPL 2025 is still 37 days away, the wicketkeeper batter will play Rajasthan Royals’ opening game of the season. Due to his injury, Samson couldn’t play Kerala’s quarterfinal match in the Ranji Trophy against Jammu and Kashmir. But luckily for RR, he would be fully fit for them.

Rajasthan Royals 2 home matches shifted
There could be a chance that Samson won’t play the opening game in Rajasthan. Two of RR’s seven home matches will be played at another venue. Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur is their home base, but like last year, RR will play two matches at the Barsapara Cricket (ACA) Stadium in Assam. It isn’t sure whether these two games will come upfront or afterward
