Sanju Samson’s first appearance of 2023 in Indian colours did not go as per plan. Back in the XI for the IND vs WI 2nd ODI, Samson had a short stay at the crease as India succumbed to the West Indian attack in Barbados. Sanju made a return to the side in a bid to cement his spot in the race for World Cup 2023. With Rohit and Virat resting, the team management promoted the Rajasthan Royals skipper to No. 3, hoping to give him enough time to make his mark. However, that move fell flat as Samson managed just 9 runs on his comeback to the side.
