Sai Sudharsan surely is over the moon after earning aa maiden Test team call-up for the England series. But the Tamil Nadu batter isn’t disracted and has his sights set on the IPL 2025 trophy. Sudharsan, the leading run-getter in the ongoing edition, has unfinished business and that is to guide the team succesfully through the playoffs to their second title.
Tests next, IPL 2025 is Sai’s focus
Addressing a press conference ahead of GT vs CSK tie, Sudharsan responded to a question on his red-ball preparations. GT will take on CSK in their final league stage match and will be hoping to get a win in order to stay on top of the table.
“I always feel that you should finish the first story and then move on to the next. Now, the IPL is also important. Finishing the IPL is more important. We will have time to prepare and use that bracket of rest so that we can be ready for the Tests,” Sudharsan said.
The Tamil Nadu batter will have to shift from playing white-ball cricket to red-ball within days of IPL 2025 getting over. He has been named in the India A squad and will travel to England with Shubman Gill to play in the 2nd unofficial Test against England Lions. On being asked about making the transition and his mental preparedness, Sai shed light on how he is preparing for the upcoming tour.
“Transitioning from white-ball to red-ball takes time. I focus a lot more on my basics, on my patience, even outside the field. Test cricket is all about patience and longevity. I feel the more I focus on it and be aware of it, it’ll be great,” Sudharsan said.
It remains to be seen at what position will Sudharsan be used in the Test series.
