Sai Sudharsan makes his Test debut on the same date as legends like Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid did

Sai Sudharsan might be toeing the footsteps of some of India’s greatest players as he makes his Test debut against England in Leeds. The Tamil Nadu batter, who earned his way into the Indian side with consistent performances, was handed his India cap by Cheteshwar Pujara. Incidentally, three other Indian legends also made their Test debuts on the very same day (June 20).

Sudharsan follows Ganguly, Dravid an Kohli

Former India captains Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid made their Test debuts on June 20. Incidentally, the duo made their first Test appearances against the same opposition as Sudharsan – England. Meanwhile, one of India’s greatest Test captains Virat Kohli also made his debut on the same day. The batting maestro played his very first Test on June 20, 2011 against West Indies.

Ganguly, who was one of India’s greatest captains, finished his Test career with 7212 runs and 32 wickets to his name from 113 matches. He slammed a 131-run knock on his debut against England at Lord’s and picked up 3 wickets.

Dravid also nearly got to a century in his very first Test for India back in 1996. He fell short of a hundred by just 5 runs, as he was sent packing for 95 runs in the 1st innings by Lewis. The game went on to end in a draw.

Virat Kohli made his Test debut against West Indies in Kingston on June 20, 2011. Batting at number 5, the batting maestro managed to score just 4 and 15 runs in his very first Test. India won that particular game by 63 runs.

Sudharsan was handed his debut cap by Cheteshwar Pujara ahead of ENG vs IND 1st Test. He is India’s 317th Test player.
