RR at IPL Auction 2025: Retained players, released players, potential buys, RTMs & Purse left

IPL Auction: RR spent heavily in retaining their core group and are now left with only 41 Cr purse -- the least among all teams.

IPL 2025 Auction kicks off in Jeddah just a day from now, and like every other team, there is a lot at stake for the RR. They did fairly well to retain some of their key players ahead of the IPL Auction, but still a lot of work needs to be done. For now they have — Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma, with some key positions left to be filled out. Their foremost task will be to find a suitable replacement for Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal, and that could be a big task, in terms of money required.

RR Released Players

RR RTM Card in IPL 2025 Auction

Just like KKR, RR have retained six players and are left with no RTM cards for the IPL 2025 Auction. They would have liked to use it on some of the released players, like Avesh Khan and Buttler, but then that won’t be the case.

RR Potential Buys

With the retained players, their batting looks like a more settled unit and will have to spend heavily on the bowling department. One of the bowlers they should certainly be looking at is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He is one player who could be the leader of the bowling unit. PBKS discard Sam Curran would be another pick, and the team should also look at re-buying Avesh Khan. Maybe Yuzvendra Chahal as well.

RR Remaining Purse

RR spent 79 Cr on retaining their six players and are left with only 41 Cr in their purse — the least among all teams. They need to be mighty careful while filling in the remaining slots in their team.
