Former Pakistan pacer Abdur Rauf Khan has reckoned that Rohit Sharma is way better than Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. His remarks come ahead of the high-octane IND vs PAK clash in the Champions Trophy in Dubai. All eyes are on the three stars to fire in the marquee tournament, since they have been in poor form across formats over the last couple of years.
Rohit > Virat Kohli, Babar Azam?
In an exclusive interview with Times of India, Rauf rated Rohit above both Babar and Kohli. He pointed out that the ex-Pakistan skipper was in no comparison with the former Indian captain. He argued that Sharma was the best batsmen in the world currently, adding that he was way better than Babar and Virat.
“Both are great players, but in my opinion, Virat Kohli has no comparison. His class, consistency, and ability to perform under pressure set him apart. Babar Azam, when in form, is exceptional. But personally, my favourite batsman [batter] is Rohit Sharma. I believe Rohit is currently the best batsman [batter] in world cricket. He is way better than Virat and Babar,” he told TOI.

Rohit managed to break free out of the shackles of poor form in the IND vs ENG 2nd ODI, scoring 119 runs. However, his scores before and after the knock indicate that he still continues to struggle across formats. Reports state that the ICC Champions Trophy is the last stage for the Hitman to prove himself as he has been asked to decide to on his future in ODIs following the tournament.
As for Kohli, he has failed to perform in the ODIs as well. He managed to score 52 and 5 in his last two ODIs. Babar Azam, who was promoted to the top-order ahead of CT 2025 in the Tri-Nation series fared poorly, registering scores of just 10, 23 and 29 in his last 3 ODIs. In fact, he scored his last century in 2023, much ahead of the ODI World Cup.
