Ex-Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma sported a Real Madrid jersey on Wednesday. The picture of Sharma, with a wide grin and the away jersey of Real Madrid was posted online. Despite the busy IPL season, the opening batsman is keeping his love for football alive.
Mumbai Indians have been in bad shape this season after the captaincy was given to Hardik Pandya over Sharma, drawing a lot of flak from people, losing their first 3 games of this season.
Rohit Sharma’s history with Real Madrid
In 2020, Rohit Sharma travelled to the Spanish capital in 2020, to witness the El-classico, when Real Madrid clashed with arch-rivals Barcelona. Sharma was also presented with a customized jersey, which the team shared on social media. The jersey was engraved with ‘RO45’. On his Instagram post, he had posted with the caption ‘Thank you for the warmest welcome.’
He witnessed Real Madrid’s 2-0 win and was ecstatic after the win. He had tweeted after meeting some of the legends after the match. “It was nice to meet some of the game at the #ElClasico party,” the tweet read. Rohit Sharma had also worn David Beckham’s Real Madrid jersey, sharing a photo with David Beckham who sported Rohit Sharma’s Indian jersey during the ICC cricket world cup 2023 semifinals in Mumbai.
