Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq has once again brought to light the funny side of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. While everything around him seems to be attracting a lot of negativity — due to his form and captaincy — the incident narrated by Imam, will surely make everyone remember the real Rohit Sharma.
Speaking on the Ultra Edge Podcast, Imam spoke about how Babar Azam narrated an incident from the captain’s meet, at the 2023 World Cup in India, where Rohit would forget his new iphone and airpods. ‘Oh my God, you haven’t met him, he’s a personality of a different level,’ Imam started. ‘He completely forgets where he kept his gloves and bats. Babar tells me about an incident — do you remember there was a captain’s meeting and these guys went in a plane? — he had bought a new iPhone and AirPods.
“He said we were talking and he first left his iPhone here, then in the plane and then his AirPods every two minutes. Then, he was cursing himself, what am I doing, I keep forgetting things. [Babar] said twice he took his phone saying, ‘Rohit bhai, ye apna phone rakhlein’ (Rohit bhai, please keep your phone). He even had to call his manager that he left his AirPods. He’s very forgetful.”
Well, this is of course not the first time that some one has highlighted the forgetful nature of Rohit Sharma. In 2017, in an episode of Breakfast With Champions, Virat Kohli had revealed the same. “The number of things Rohit Sharma forgets, I have never seen anyone else being this forgetful; iPad, wallet, phone, he forgets not just small things but essentials for daily use. He has even forgotten his passport two or three times, which was very hard to retrieve.”
