Revised WC Schedule finally out, IND vs PAK on Oct 14, 9 matches rescheduled

The World Cup Schedule is finally out with as many as nine matches rescheduled due to festival dates in India.

After several delays, the revised World Cup Schedule is finally out. BCCI and the ICC had earlier released the original schedule on June 27. However, security concerns have posed some changes, with the IND vs PAK moved to October 14. Pakistan and Bangladesh have three fixtures rescheduled. Now that the World Cup 2023 schedule is out, World Cup 2023 tickets will follow this week. However, the mega tournament will start on October 5 and the final will be on Nov 19.

Pakistan Cricket Team has as many as three games rescheduled. The change in India vs Pakistan match saw Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad moved to October 10. The Pakistan vs England game is changed to Nov 11, after clashing with Kali Pooja festivities in West Bengal. The game is expected to be moved a day earlier, causing another ripple effect.

Festive date clash for venues

  • Ahmedabad: India vs Pakistan (October 15): Instead of Oct 15, Ahmedabad will host the match on Oct 14. Oct 15 marks the beginning of Navratri.
  • Kolkata: November 12: Pakistan vs England date has been advanced to Nov 11 after Kolkata Police has refused protection owing to Kali Puja on Nov 12.

Apart from Pakistan’s matches, there are 9 changes to the original schedule. While India will play at all venues across India, a change in schedule for Pakistan has also forced changes in other fixtures.

ICC was unhappy with Dharamshala hosting India vs New Zealand clash as the small stadium is not economically viable. However, HPCA Stadium will retain the match.

World Cup 2023 Tickets

There is finally some good news. With the revised fixture now set to be released, tickets will follow soon. State associations have already sent in their ticket strategies to the BCCI. The Indian board has also shared the plan with the ICC. Registration for tickets will begin on August 15.

There will not be any e-tickets. Instead, fans will get the tickets home delivered from ticketing partners such as BookMyShow and PayTM Insider. Furthermore, if a ticket is purchased a day before the match, fans will have to collect physical tickets from stadium box offices.
