RCB vs DC: Prithvi Shaw – There seems to be no respite for Prithvi Shaw as The Bombay High Court on Thursday (April 13) issued a notice to the DC opener, and city police seeking a petition filed by Sapna Gill. Shaw and the Mumbai Police quashed FIR lodged against the social media influencer for alleged assault and demanding money from Shaw. The FIR was lodged by Shaw in February 2023, after a viral video showed Gill & her friends getting into a fight with Shaw and his friends outside a hotel in Mumbai for taking selfies. After Shaw’s FIR, Gill immediately lodged a counter-complaint against the DC opener for sexual assault and outraging her modesty. A division bench of justices S B Shukre and M M Sathaye on April 13, issued notice to Mumbai Police and Shaw for quashing the Fir against her. The next hearing of the case is set to be held in June.

Gill’s lawyer Ali Kashif Khan told the bench of Justices that the Mumbai police & Shaw were involved in filing a fake case against the social media influencer earlier in February. Khan later sought a court direction to the police to procure and safeguard the CCTC footage from the hotel in Andheri to show what had exactly happened before the ugly brawl between Shaw & Sapna Gill.
The social media influencer also sought direction to the police to not file a chargesheet against her in the case. While the next hearing of the matter is in June, Shaw seems to be in deep trouble if he is indeed found guilty. Currently, the DC opener is in horrible run of form in IPL, managing to not even post a single fifty in three innings so far. DC are yet to win a game in the four games that they have played. The David Warner-led side will next take on RCB on April 15.
