The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were the biggest underachievers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the first 12 editions of the tournament. For the majority of 2010s, RCB had the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle among their ranks, but the dream consistently underperformed.
Entering the 2020s, RCB flipped the switch. Gayle had already left, and ABD retired in 2021. However, the difference was that the franchise started to pay the same attention to their bowling lineups as to their batting. The result was RCB becoming the most consistent team in the IPL. Since 2020, RCB has failed to make the Playoffs just once: in 2023. They have the most wins for all franchises along with their maiden trophy run in 2025.
