RCB hit reset again, Trophy drought costs Mike Hesson, Sanjay Bangar

RCB have parted ways with head coach Sanjay Bangar and director of cricket Mike Hesson.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have hit the reset button once again. The franchise has parted ways with Director of cricket Mike Hesson and head coach Sanjay Bangar ahead of the IPL 2024 season. The future of bowling coach Adam Griffith remains uncertain.

Hesson and Bangar have been in their roles for the last five years. The duo share a great camaraderie with former team captain and icon Virat Kohli. As per Indian Express, RCB are looking at fresh ideas as they aim to end their title drought. The Bangalore-based franchise is yet to win a title since the start of the tournament in 2008.

As they pursue their first IPL championship, the franchise is now eager to have someone who can introduce fresh perspectives. The team’s enormous army of supporters and followers became discouraged when they failed to even get to the playoffs in the 2023 season.

It’s unclear whether RCB would select an Indian or a foreign head coach to run the team. The franchise will be on the look out for new faces and will be keen to settle on the process in the coming months. The IPL 2024 Auction is likely to be held in December and RCB would be keen to fill their vacancies by then.

The support staff for the RCB women’s squad may undergo a change if Hesson and RCB split ways. Hesson also served as the team’s director of cricket during the first Women’s Premier League, when they placed fourth out of five teams with two victories and six defeats.
