Royal Challengers Bengaluru have scripted history by amassing the most runs by a side in an IPL playoff game, thanks to skipper Rajat Patidar. The batter stayed unbeaten on 93 runs at the end of 20 overs to guide RCB to 254 runs at the end of the innings in the Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Tuesday. Powered by a 93-run knock by Patidar and a quickfire 43-run knock by Krunal Pandya, RCB reached 254/5 at the end of 20 overs, setting a mammoth target for GT.
RCB script history in IPL 2026 Qualifier 1
After being asked to bat first in the Qualifier 1 clash against GT, RCB posted a mammoth 255-run target for the opposition. 254/5 by RCB against GT is the highest total to be amassed by a team in an IPL knockout/playoffs game. The previous best was by GT, who scored 233/3 against MI in 2023. RCB also scored 38 boundaries during their innings against GT in Dharamshala, the most by any team in the IPL playoffs. RCB also registered their third highest total in the history of IPL in this game.

Rajat Patidar, the RCB skipper, led from the front to guide the team to the mammoth total. He scored 93 runs off just 33 deliveries, including 9 sixes and five fours at a strike rate of 281.82. This is his second-best score in an IPL playoffs match, after his unbeaten 112-run knock against LSG in the Eliminator in 2022, followed by a 58-run knock off 42 deliveries against RR in Qualifier 2 in 2022.
The game also marked the 4th highest total scored by a team in a T20 knockout game.
