Rajasthan Royals have created history by becoming the team to hit the most number of sixes in an IPL season. Even though Riyan Parag and co. were knocked out of the tournament after losing to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2026, the team did not leave without shattering records. RR, who hit 181 sixes in IPL 2026, surpassed Sunrisers Hyderabad, who slammed 178 sixes in 2024, on the list of teams to have hit most number of sixes in a single edition of the tournament.

Out of the 181 sixes that Rajasthan Royals scored in IPL 2026, 72 of them came off 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s willow. He overtook Chris Gayle on the list of most sixes scored by a player in an IPL season. Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira hit 24 and 23 sixes respectively, while RR captain Riyan Parag slammed 21 maximums. The previous best was 178 sixes in IPL 2024 – a record that was held by SRH.

In 2024, Abhishek Sharma slammed 42 sixes in the entire season – 30 less than what Sooryavanshi hit two seasons later. Klaasen (38) and Travis Head (32) were the other major contributors for SRH in that season. In 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) fell just 5 sixes short of breaching SRH’s record. On top of the list was captain Shreyas Iyer who had struck 39 maximums, followed by openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya who had hit 30 and 25 sixes respectively in that season.
SRH and PBKS find themselves on the list of teams that have most sixes in the season once again, however. Pat Cummins and co. slammed 171 sixes in IPL 2026 (Abhishek Sharma – 43, Ishan Kishan – 32, Heinrich Klaasen – 31). Meanwhile, for PBKS, the leading six-getters in the tournament were Priyansh Arya and Cooper connolly with 32 maximums each, followed by Shreyas Iyer (30) and Prabhsimran Singh (23).
Interestingly, none of the teams that are involved in the IPL 2026 final – RCB or GT – have scored as many sixes in this season. Defending champions Bengaluru find themselves on the list at least, having struck 165 sixes in IPL 2024 – the maximum by a team in that season.
