Quite optimistic: AB de Villiers backs RCB to end IPL trophy drought in 2024

RCB has been a part of the IPL since its inception in 2008 but has failed to win the trophy even once.

South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) veteran AB de Villiers has backed the Red Army to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season this year and end their trophy drought. Speaking in a QNA session, AB de Villiers said that he is “quite optimistic” that RCB will win IPL this year.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) right since 2008 but the coveted IPL trophy continues to elude them. The Bengaluru-based franchise has made it to three IPL finals thus far. While RCB have never won an IPL trophy, they still have one of the most loyal fan base in IPL.

As stated above, RCB are yet to win the IPL and their squad is equipped to end their trophy drought in the upcoming season. RCB did retain the majority of their core players but let go of some key names such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel and Josh Hazlewood. In the IPL 2024 auction, they have made some decent acquisitions.

They have experienced campaigners like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Mohammed Siraj in the team. The likes of Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar will also boost their chances to win the upcoming IPL 2024.
