‘Pretty funny way to end’: Mitchell Marsh takes sly dig at Pakistan after win

Australia vs Pakistan: After putting up a decent fight for major part of day four, the visitors lost the second Test at MCG by 79 runs.

The second Australia vs Pakistan Test had an expected end, as the visitors lost by 79 runs at the MCG, on Friday. The Pakistani team extended its losing spree Down Under to 16, without winning one — with the last one coming back in 1999. Pat Cummins bagged five, while Mitchell Starc ended with four wickets, as Pakistan was bundled out for 237 in the fourth innings.

At one stage, they were 219/5 and lost their last five wickets in the next 18 runs. Aussie all-rounder described the win aptly, “Pretty funny way to end, but it was a tense day of cricket.”

“They fought extremely well right through the day. Another one that depended on a bit of luck.” As for his catch to dismiss Agha Salma, who scored a fifty, Marsh added, “I nearly lost it and did well to hang on. This feels like a lot, when Babar was in, Rizwan as well, it looked like they’d take it away (from us), but our (bowling) experience counted in the end.”

“What a game he had (on Pat Cummins), 10 wickets and he led beautifully as well. We’ll celebrate in the changing room and then get ready for the New Year Test in Sydney.”
