Four wins in six matches, and RR have been making all the right noises in IPL 2026, so far. Yes, they have lost two on the bounce, but then they still possess one of the best overall units in the tournament. Now, on Wednesday, they will have a chance to get back to winning ways, though some tweaks could be required.
But generally, almost all players are performing to their best. Perhaps the only exception in the team for now, is Shimron Hetmyer, who has only scored 39 runs in the 5 matches he has played. Jaiswal, Sooryavanshi too good at the top
Sooryavnshi scored 0 and 46 in the last two games, and he has shown, that the team relies on him heavily to get a rousing start. Similar is the case with Yashasvi Jaiswal. IN their last match vs KKR, all seemed well, when the duo struck 63 in the powerplay, and when they got out, RR could only manage to score 155. So..
Sooryavanshi is also their highest run-getter with 246, while Jaiswal is second with 223. So, obviously no changes there.
Chance for Lhuan-dre Pretorius needed
Donovan Ferreira somehow doesn’t instill that kind of confidence with his batting.. Lhuan could be an exciting pick for the middle-order. He did get a chance to bat this season, but only faced two deliveries. His strike-rate in all T20s is close to 140. Something that could interest skipper Riyan Parag.
Shimron Hetmyer definitely out, no changes in bowling
Why RR should continue with Hetty, is beyond the fans of the franchise. He is a gun fielder and an excellent catcher, but IPL demands are a whole lot different. 5 matches and 39 is putting a lot of pressure on the other batters. And it is the right time to get someone like a Dasun Shanaka, who can not only bat, but send down couple of good overs.
Though bowling has been good, and will remain the same. What would be disappointing is, Yashraj Punja could miss out on a berth, since Sandeep Sharma could be coming back in.
