With three wins in 10 matches, LSG’s campaign is more-or-less over, and are currently 10th in the points table. This, despite having one of the best bowling units; this also shows how terribly wrong the batting has gone for them in IPL 2026. They have a chance to rectify that, when they take on CSK in Chennai, in the first battle of Sunday.
Mitch Marsh will once again be the key batter for Lucknow, who got a ton against RCB in the last match, and took them to a 9-run win. But then, if support doesn’t come, he will struggle. It is all about getting the combination right. Insidesport takes a look at the Predicted LSG playing XI vs CSK.
Aiden Markram needs to open with Marsh
Markram, this season, has bore the brunt of a poor batting position. In the T20s, he deserves to open; especially when it comes to LSG in IPL. Despite that position, he has managed to score 225 runs in 10 matches. Arshin Kulkarni, who was included in the last match, should be kept in the middle-order.
Rishabh Pant should be a finisher
Pant, given the kind of form he is in, should stick to finishing duties only. Last match, when he came only for a few deliveries, blasted 32 from 10. Give that Nicholas Pooran is in form too, that move only makes sense. Pant at no. 3 or no. 4 could be a disaster for the team, as somehow his big shots aren’t coming good.
Get rid of Digvesh Rathi
7 matches and 3 wickets, at an economy of 9.82, Rathi should not be the playing XI for now. He is leaking way too many runs, and instead the team can get in M Siddharth or George Linde. The Indian left-arm spinner has picked 6 wickets, while Linde’s economy in T20s is only 7.43. So, the choice should be clear for Pant.
Predicted LSG playing XI vs CSK
Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Arshin Kulkarni, Rishabh Pant (capt & wk), Akshat Raghuwanshi, Shahbaz Ahmed, George Linde, Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav.
