Gujarat Titans will have a tall task at hand in filling in the void created by Jos Buttler’s departure in their Eliminator tie against MI. Shubman Gill and co. will be desperate to end their two-match losing streak as they face MI in a must-win contest. Buttler, GT’s third highest run-getter in IPL 2025, won’t be a part of the tie as he has headed home for national duties.

GT’s top three batters, namely captain Gill, Sudharsan and Buttler have scored most of the runs for the team so far in IPL 2025. All three batters have scored over 500 runs in this season. However, without Buttler, the pressure will be on the opening duo to do the heavy lifting on Friday.
Mendis, who has been named as a replacement, is likely to occupy Buttler’s position at number 3. The tie against MI will be a real test for GT’s middle-order as they haven’t had much of game time compared to the top three.
While Sherfane has already displayed his ability to finish multiple times, the onus will be on Tewatia and Shahrukh to step up to the occasion if needed.
GT won’t worry too much about their bowling unit. Gill will be hoping that veteran Rashid can inflict maximum damage to MI, something that he hasn’t been able to do so consistently to other opposition in this season.
