What would be his last ODI World Cup, Quinton de Kock is giving a send off to the format in style. After missing most of the games in IPL 2023 at his ‘home’ ground Lucknow, the fans at the Ekana Stadium finally witnessed him demolish Australia bowling with a 91-ball century in the SA vs AUS game. It was his second century in the ODI World Cup 2023 after he hammered one against Sri Lanka in Delhi.

Quinton De Kock has already declared that it would be his last ODI World Cup. He will concentrate more on T20 format. De Kock has already retired from Tests. The former Proteas captain has already admitted that it’s the money in T20s that has forced him to take a call on the 50-over format.

“T20 events – I am not going to deny that there is a lot of money and coming to the end of your career, guys want to get their final top-up before their career finishes. Any normal person would do it anyway,” De Kock told Star Sports.

Fans delighted

With over 6,000 runs in ODIs including 19 centuries, Quinton De Kock is one of the best in the format. But as he looks to play franchise leagues all over the globe, he is bidding goodbye to his favourite format in style. And in doing so, fans are getting a replay of his fantastic ODI career.

With Kyle Mayers being favoured, Lucknow Super Giants could not accommodate Quinton De Kock until KL Rahul was ruled out. And that way, the South African superstar missed out on innings at the Ekana Stadium. But, on Thursday, he gave back.
