Here is the list of the top five players with the most number of 'Player of the Match' awards in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to be a stage for stellar performances, some players stand out with their consistent brilliance, often earning the prestigious ‘Player of the Match’ award. In the batters-dominating tournament, the ‘Player of the Match’ list is also dominated by batters. Let us look at the players with the most number of ‘Player of the Match’ in IPL.

AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers has made a name for himself as one of the best finishers in Twenty20 cricket. He has received 25 ‘Player of the Match’. In 170 innings, he has scored 5162 runs with an amazing strike average of 151.68.

Chris Gayle

The ‘Universal Boss’ has won many matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and his performances awarded 22 ‘Player of the Match’ in the Indian Premier League. He has scored 4965 runs in 142 matches.

Rohit Sharma

With 19 Player of the Match awards, Rohit Sharma is ranked third overall and first among Indian players. His five IPL championships as captain of the Mumbai Indians make him perhaps the most successful captain in IPL history. Rohit has the fourth most runs in IPL history. He has scored 6211 runs in 243 matches.

David Warner

David Warner has eighteen Player of the Match award and ranks fourth on this list. With 848 runs scored, he helped Sunrisers Hyderabad win the championship in the 2016 season.

MS Dhoni

With 250 IPL games under his belt, MS Dhoni leads all players with 5082 runs scored at an average of 38.79 and a strike rate of 135.92. He ranks fifth in the record count having won 17 IPL “Player of the Match”. CSK won the championship in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021 when he was captain.
