Pakistan cricket team star Imad Wasim has announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket, once again. The all-rounder had earlier announced his decision to hang up his boots in November 2023, only to withdraw the decision earlier this year ahead of T20 World Cup 2024. Imad Wasim last played for Pakistan in the T20 WC match against Ireland in June following which he has been playing only domestic and franchise cricket.

Taking to social media platform X, Imad Wasim penned a long note informing fans of his decision to hang up his boots. The all-rounder, however, clarified that he will continue to play domestic and franchise cricket. He thanked the Pakistan fans for their unwavering support through his “highs and lows.”

Imad’s U-turn on retirement
Imad Wasim had decided to retire from international cricket in November 2023 following Pakistan’s exit from ODI World Cup. However, it only lasted for a few months as the withdrew the decision with an eye on securing a spot in the squad for the T20 World Cup. The all-rounder once again fell out of the favour of the selectors following Pakistan’s miserable campaign in USA which led to their exit in the group stage itself.
Following the marquee tournament, Imad Wasim had been constantly snubbed from the national side, forcing him to take the decision to retire once again. Wasim was caught in the eye of the storm during the T20 World Cup, with many former cricketers accusing the all-rounder of having hidden his injury in order to secure a spot in the side.
A veteran in the white-ball formats, Imad Wasim has played 55 ODIs and 75 T20Is for Pakistan since making his debut in 2015.
