Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood’s central contract upgraded

Shan Masood’s promotion occurred as he took on the role of Test captain after Babar Azam stepped down from the position across all formats.

Pakistan’s newly appointed Test skipper Shan Masood has seen an upgrade in his central contract category from D to B by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This promotion comes as Masood assumed Test captaincy following Babar Azam’s resignation from the role across all formats. Masood is now gearing up to lead Pakistan in a three-match series against Australia, scheduled to begin on December 14 in Perth.

The board made the decision to upgrade Shan Masood’s central contract from Category D to B in accordance with its policy. This decision aligns with the principle that if a centrally contracted player below A or B categories assumes the team’s captaincy, the board elevates their contract to category B for the duration of their leadership role.
