The third edition of the Women’s Premier League went well, with the Mumbai Indians winning the title for the second time. A lot happened in the WPL, with matches taking place at four venues and the final being held in Mumbai. Everything was well and good. Although it’s an Indian league with Indian pitches and squads filled with Indian players, it was the overseas stars who dominated the league this year. Indians lagged in the race for top run-scorer and wicket-taker positions.

Talking about both run scorers and wicket takers chart, so far in the three seasons of WPL, only one Indian has been able to make it into the top. In WPL 2024, it was Shreyanka Patil who took the most wickets. In the 8 matches she played last year, she took 13 wickets and topped the charts. Other than that, every year, it’s some overseas player who makes to the top.
