Overlooked from Tests, Sarfaraz Khan gets lifeline in India A tour of South Africa

Sarfaraz Khan will be a part of the India A squad in the upcoming India tour of South Africa slated to start from December onwards.

After being regularly overlooked in the national squad, Sarfaraz Khan got a much-needed boost as the young batter will be a part of the India A squad against South Africa. To note, the Indian cricket team will participate in three T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches. During the tour, India A will also play two four-day matches against South Africa A and one inter-squad three-day match.

While Sarfaraz Khan has been named in the first match, the right-handed batter will not be a part of the second four-day match. It must be mentioned that wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharath will lead India A against South Africa A.

To note, Sarfaraz Khan has some impressive numbers in the first-class arena. The 26-year-old has played 40 FC matches and has amassed a total of 3589 runs. Sarfaraz Khan averages a massive 71.78 and plays at a strike rate of 69.19. The right-handed batter has a total of 13 centuries and nine fifties to his name.

Despite such impressive numbers, Khan has been regularly ignored by the national selectors. To note, the young batter is yet to represent India across all three formats of the game. However, Khan will look to turn the tables against South Africa A and try to somehow find his place at the highest level.
