Prithvi Shaw was overlooked by all IPL franchises at the 2025 auction, after not being retained by DC.

Out of the current bunch of Indian cricketers, who are still in their 20s, a lot was expected from Prithvi Shaw. None of the teams was interested in hiring him, not even his previous side DC.

Prithvi Shaw Wants to Play for MI in IPL

In an interview with News24, Prithvi Shaw opened up on his personal ambitions of comeback into the Indian side and the IPL as well, and went on to reveal, the franchise, with which he wants to make a mark. The former U-19 skipper revealed that he wanted to play for the MI, in the upcoming seasons of the IPL.

“I would like to play for Mumbai, if given a chance, since I’m from here,” Shaw said. That said, the 25-year-old played only for DC in his entire IPL career. He was with the team for 7 years, where in 79 matches, he went on to score 1283 runs at an average of 24 and a strike-rate of 147.

Shaw Opens Up on Reason Behind Dip in Fitness

He played his last IPL match in 2024, against KKR at the Eden Gardens. There he scored 13 from 7 deliveries. Meanwhile, talking about his slump in fitness levels, the cricketer made it clear, that it was due to his bad eating habits only. “Im a big foodie. I didn’t have control over it. I don’t have interest in junk food like Pani Puri or Vada Pav. But I used to eat a lot of food at once and take a nap or something. If I didn’t train for a while, the weight gain used to be evident,” Shaw said.
