McCullum recorded the feat in the game against Australia at Christchurch. Coming in to bat when the team was 32/3, he smashed a four off the second ball. He then took Mitchell Marsh to the cleaners before lunch, scoring 21 runs in one over.

McCullum was handed a lifeline after he was caught off a no-ball on 39. He fired a six and a couple of boundaries in that very over. The batter finished the innings with a 145-run knock, studded with 21 fours and 6 sixes.

However, Australia went on to win the game by seven wickets, taking a lead in the series. Joe Burns and then skipper Steve Smith scored tons to propel their side to 505 runs.

New Zealand were bundled out for 335 runs in their 2nd innings with Jackson Bird grabbing a fifer. James Pattinson added four wickets to his name. Australia chased down the target with seven overs to spare. Smith and Burns were once again the heroes with the bat.
