On International Yoga Day, WATCH Indian Cricket stars who swear by Yoga

There is an close relationship between yoga and India's cricket stars. They employ it to sustain mental and physical balance as they pursue excellence. The ninth International Yoga Day, which falls on June 21, is being enthusiastically observed all across the world. India’s cricket stars and yoga have a close relationship. Former India explosive cricketer Virender Sehwag shared a video on his social media pages displaying his yoga abilities. He could have been seen in the video doing the Headstand position with ease and balance. Alongside the video, Sehwag extended his wishes for a great International Day of Yoga, saying, “Wishing you a great #internationaldayofyoga.”

Pragyan Ojha, a former Indian cricketer and Sehwag’s teammate, joined Sehwag in celebrating International Yoga Day by posting a photo of himself doing Vrikshasana, often known as the Tree Pose, on Instagram. Ojha stressed the positive effects yoga may have on a person’s physical and mental well-being. In his Instagram post, he wrote, “Happy International Yoga Day! Embracing this ancient practice promotes one’s physical and mental well-being, fostering harmony and inner peace. Let’s unite in harnessing the power of yoga to cultivate mindfulness, reduce stress, and enhance overall health.”

India legend Sachin Tendulkar participated in several yoga asanas to mark the International Day of Yoga. Yoga enables the body and the mind to function in harmony, according to Sachin, who posted some images of his workouts. He also asked about the favourite yoga pose among his followers. Sachin wrote: “Yoga helps increase the teamwork between the body and the mind. Which is your favourite Yoga asana?”

Yoga is a key component of the physical regimen of star batter Virat Kohli as well. “Yoga is a wonderful discipline. It made me feel confident and competitive. Practice yoga.. it will make you relaxed and free, yet active and energetic,” said Virat Kohli.

Modern Test great Cheteshwar Pujara took to his social media accounts to wish Happy International Yoga Day to everyone. Pujara said that Yoga is more than just a physical exercise; it is a mental journey of self-discovery. The cricketer also urged people to take a moment and connect with themselves through yoga.

India’s saviour in the World Test Championship Final, Ajinkya Rahane, also expressed the importance of yoga, much like his test batting partner Cheteshwar Pujara. Rahane wrote “Breathe & Be Present” while performing yoga.

Yoga has been used by legends like VVS Laxman and India’s current batter Cheteshwar Pujara to do incredible things like link the body and mind through the breath and perfect posture. India opener Shikhar Dhawan too swears by it. Yoga asanas have previously been used by players like Dravid and Tendulkar to assist both prevent serious injuries and fasten the healing process after minor ones.
