It has been a rather disappointing tournament so far for the former No. 1 ICC T20 Batter. Rizwan experienced a slump in his form post the Asia Cup. He failed to score big runs and thereby lost his top spot to India’s Suryakumar Yadav. It was nothing sort of a miracle that Pakistan made it to the semi-finals.

However, the Pakistani side buckled up and produced a magnificent performance against New Zealand, where they restricted the Kiwis to just 152. With a relatively low target to chase, there began the masterclass of Rizwan and Babar Azam. Rizwan went on to slam 57 runs from 43 deliveries, before being dismissed by Trent Boult.

Mohammad Rizwan in ICC T20 World Cup:

Rizwan vs India – 4 from 12
Rizwan vs Zimbabwe – 14 of 16
Rizwan vs Netherlands – 49 of 39
Rizwan vs South Africa – 4 of 4
Rizwan vs Bangladesh – 32 of 32
Rizwan vs New Zealand – 57 of 43

This fifty will be extremely crucial to boost his confidence. In his opening game against India, he managed to score just 4 runs. Against Zimbabwe where Pakistan experience a major upset, Rizwan contributed just 14 runs from the bat. He managed to score 49 against minnows Netherlands and a decent 32 against Bangladesh in their final game of the Group stage.

Batting with a strike rate of 132.56, Rizwan slammed 5 boundaries to bring up his half-century. Rizwan returning to form just ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup finals will cause a major worry for both India and England. The finals of this mega tournament will be held on 13th November 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
