Reports indicate that the Mullanpur Stadium boasts a seating capacity of around 30,000, with parking facilities expected to accommodate approximately 1800 cars.

In a surprising development, the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is contemplating a shift from the iconic PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali to the newly constructed Mullanpur Stadium as the home ground for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season. The PCA IS Bindra Stadium has long been the traditional home venue for PBKS in the IPL.

Dilsher Khanna, the Secretary of PCA, recently addressed the media, unveiling that representatives from the IPL franchise have conducted an inspection of the Mullanpur Stadium.

There is a growing likelihood that this newly minted venue might witness PBKS’ matches in the forthcoming season. While there were initial speculations about the Mullanpur Stadium hosting a T20I encounter between India and Afghanistan in January, Khanna clarified that some pending work necessitated the relocation of that fixture to Mohali.

A video shared on the official Punjab Cricket Association’s account on social media showcased the recent developments at the Mullanpur Stadium. Dilsher Khanna guided the media through a comprehensive tour, spotlighting various facets of the stadium, including the playing area, grandstands, and facilities catering to both players and spectators.

The announcement came with a caption that reads, “The wait is over! PCA New Cricket Stadium will be ready soon for IPL 2024.”

Mullanpur Stadium: Overview

Reports indicate that the Mullanpur Stadium boasts a seating capacity of around 30,000, with parking facilities expected to accommodate approximately 1800 cars.

Currently, 12 pitches are under preparation at the heart of the stadium. The net session area, strategically located near gate number one (the designated team entrance), is complemented by expansive dressing rooms for players. These state-of-the-art facilities include a sauna bath, buffet area, shower facilities, and a massage area.

As this potential transition unfolds, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await confirmation regarding PBKS’ choice of home ground for IPL 2024. The Mullanpur Stadium, with its modern amenities and substantial spectator capacity, might soon become the new cricketing hub for the Punjab Kings.
