Haris Rauf creates unwanted record during PAK vs ENG Cricket World Cup clash

Haris ended his disappointing World Cup campaign after conceding 533 runs in 9 matches.

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf on Saturday created an unwanted record during ENG vs PAK Cricket World Cup match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The pacer broke the record of conceding most runs in a single edition of a World Cup.

Haris ended his disappointing World Cup campaign after conceding 533 runs in 9 matches.

The 30-year-old surpassed England leg-spinner Adil Rashid who set the record in World Cup 2019 after conceding 526 runs.

Sri Lanka’s pacer Dilshan Madushanka is third on the list with 525 runs in nine innings in the current World Cup campaign.

Rauf took 16 wickets in nine innings at an economy of 6.9.

The team’s disappointing run in the World Cup is highlighted by a striking stat: the team’s top batter, Mohammed Rizwan, scored 359 runs in 8 games, but that falls short by 138 runs compared to what Haris Rauf conceded in the tournament.

Talking about the ongoing game, England have posted a mammoth 337/9 in 50 overs in their final league game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ben Stokes (84), Joe Root (60) and Jonny Bairstow (59) scored half-centuries for the defending champions. Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers for the Pakistan team with three wickets.

Notably, both England and Pakistan are out of the World Cup semi-final contention. Pakistan needed to bat first in order to have a slim chance of qualifying for the World Cup semi-final but it ended during toss as England opted to bat first.
