Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins acknowledged the challenge the team has faced in their home stadium against Gujarat Titans. The day ended in losing cause for SRH by 7 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Batting first, SRH managed to post a total of 152/8, with Mohammed Siraj’s career-best IPL figures of 4-17. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan each took two wickets, adding pressure on SRH’s batting lineup. Even Cummins was shocked with the wicket. It is the same wicket where cricket pundits were hoping for a 300-run score last week.
Cummins reflects on the Hyderabad match
Pat Cummins, who contributed with a quick 22 not out off 9 balls, remarked on the effectiveness of the Gujarat Titans’ pace attack. “Not a traditional Hyderabad wicket, tough to get fluency in your innings. At the end there, it did not spin as much as we thought. A few (runs) short and they batted well. (On Simarjeet being their Impact Player) It was between him and (Rahul) Chahar. During their bowling innings, it felt like pace-bowling was tough to get away, so went with Simarjeet” Cummins said during the post-match presentation.
Gujarat’s successful chase
Gujarat Titans chased down the target comfortably, with Shubman Gill remaining unbeaten on 61, supported by Washington Sundar’s 49 and Sherfane Rutherford’s rapid 35 not out. The chase was completed with 20 balls to spare, showcasing the strength of their batting lineup.

Washington Sundar’s contribution and debut
Washington Sundar, making his debut for Gujarat Titans, played a crucial role in the victory. Reflecting on his innings, Sundar said, “Skipper told me to bat as deep as possible and wanted to finish the game for my team. This has been the trend in Hyderabad in the last few years, the wicket gets a little better so easier to chase 160-170. I was aware of it and it helped me. Coach asked me to go in at 4 especially after we lost a couple of wickets in the early overs, rare opportunity for me and I loved my time in the middle,” he stated after the match.
