Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh wants Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to consider retirement only after 2027 World Cup. There was a lot of speculation on the veteran duo calling it a day in 50-over format after Champions Trophy. However, the duo have categorically dismissed any such thought. Yograj Singh wants the duo to target one more ICC trophy before taking a call on their careers.
Yograj wants Ro-Ko to play till 2027
Speaking to ANI, Yograj head praise on Rohit for dismissing any thoughts of retiring. He claimed that nobody could retire the Ro-Ko duo. Yuvraj’s father further said that Rohit and Kohli should think about retirement only after the conclusion of 2027 ODI World Cup. The next edition of the 50-over World Cup will be held in 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
“The best thing is that Rohit Sharma said he is not retiring. Nobody can retire Rohit and Virat. They should think about retirement only after the 2027 World Cup. I had said this before also that India will win (Champions Trophy),” Yograj said.

Addressing the post-match press conference following the Champions Trophy win, Rohit said that he had no plans to retire from ODIs. He was responding to all speculations that were making waves before and during the tournament. Earlier, reports had claimed that chief selector Ajit Agarkar had asked the Indian captain to take a call on his ODI career after the conclusion of Champions Trophy. However, there seems to be no room for the thought of retirement in the Hitman’s mind as he now sets his sight firmly on the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The Indian skipper was named the Player of the Match (POTM) in the Champions Trophy final for his 76-run knock. Sharma’s knock set the perfect stage for India to finish the run-chase.
