Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra iterated the same. He claimed that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made the T20I squad, not due to their IPL performances but because of their World Cup 2023 exploits. The commentator highlighted that even if the selectors wanted to drop one or the other, they didn’t have the guts to do so.
“If the selectors had thought of dropping either, I don’t think any selector has (the guts) to drop one and pick the other. Not going to happen.
Either both would have been picked or dropped. Rohit-Kohli would have been either selected or dropped. No one has the guts to pick one and drop another, which is not possible for anyone to do.“
