No more Tata IPL? BCCI floats tender for IPL 2024 title sponsor

The contract with Tata Group was valid till the end of the 2024 season and the BCCI have now put out fresh tenders for the same.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) might no longer be called Tata IPL from next season as the Indian T20 League is likely to get a new title sponsor for the next edition. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the release of ‘Invitation to Tender for Title Sponsor Rights’ for IPL editions 2024-2028.

“The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) invites bids from reputed entities for acquiring the Title Sponsor Rights for the Indian Premier League Seasons 2024-2028”, BCCI announced in a press release.

“The detailed terms and conditions governing the tender process including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, rights and obligations, etc. are contained in the ‘Invitation to Tender’ (“ITT”) document which will be made available on receipt of payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 5,00,000 (Indian Rupees Five Lakh Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. The procedure to procure the ITT documents is enlisted in Annexure A to this notice. The ITT will be available for purchase till January 8, 2024,” the statement further added.

Notably, Tata Group took over the title sponsorship from Dream11 which succeeded Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo in 2021 after the company withdrew due to political tensions between both countries.

The contract with Tata Group was valid till the end of the 2024 season and the BCCI have now put out fresh tenders for the same. However, it is important to note that the Indian conglomerate can still return for a four-year period if they bid again.
