No Brevis, Rabada & Bavuma rested from SA T20 Squad for India series

Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Gerald Coetzee will only be available for first two T20Is as they are rested ahead of the two-match Test series.

With IND vs AUS T20 series done, it’s time for India vs South Africa series. And the Proteas will begin their preparations for T20 World Cup 2024. But even though the series is a priority, South Africa have opted to rest and rotate a few big names. Temba Bavuma and Kagiso Rabada will both be absent to keep them fresh for the IND vs SA Test series. But with six months left for T20 WC, Proteas have omitted Dewald Brevis from the Aiden Markram-led squad.

Dewald Brevis aka Baby AB made his debut in the Australia series. However, in the two matches he played, Brevis scored 5 and a duck. And he has promptly been dropped.

Similarly, Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Gerald Coetzee will only be available for first two T20Is. Nandre Burger and Ottniel Baartman have got maiden call-ups in T20Is.

However with not many T20Is left before T20 World Cup 2024, SA20 2024 and IPL 2024 will be the two T20 leagues where players’ form will be assessed.

Earlier, India announced squads for the South Africa tour. With no Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in the T20I squad, Suryakumar Yadav will lead India side in absence of an injured Hardik Pandya.
