Mitchell Starc has continued to utterly dominate Nicholas Pooran. The left-arm pacer who plays for Delhi Capitals (DC) got the better of Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) best batter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season for a fifth consecutive time in T20 cricket.
Starc outfoxes Pooran
Starc has bowled to Pooran just 7 times in the shortest format of the game. And surprisingly, he’s dismissed him in their last 5 encounters. Going against Pooran at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Starc bowled him with a sneaky slower bouncer. The southpaw had scored a boundary off him just three balls prior, but the pacer worked him out quickly.
Nicholas Pooran vs Mitchell Starc: T20 & IPL stats comparison
Innings | Balls | Runs | Out | Average | Strike Rate | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Overall | 7 | 14 | 12 | 5 | 2.40 | 85.71 |
IPL | 3 | 5 | 5 | 3 | 1.66 | 100.00 |
Pooran has been one of the best batters in the IPL 2025 season. He’s second in the Orange Cap race, with 377 runs at a 47.12 average and a mind-boggling strike rate of 204.89. But that’s his overall record. Against Starc, Pooran has scored just 5 runs in 4 balls and dismissed twice.
The match-up should ideally suit Pooran since Starc is a left-arm pacer, but that’s not been the case. The Australian fast bowler seems to have worked out how to get Pooran out, while every other bowler in the IPL struggles to do so.
