NGO transforms World Cup final plastic waste into benches, jackets in Ahmedabad

After the World Cup final between India and Australia, the Narendra Modi Stadium was littered with tonns of plastic waste.

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 was one of the biggest spectacle in India this year. The tournament turned out to be huge success as millions of fans watched the games in stadiums. The final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19 saw an audience of over a lakh.

After the match, the stadium was littered with tonns of plastic waste. Interestingly, an NGO took an innovative approach to recycle the waste. The organisation collected the waste and used it to create benches and jackets. These items were then donated to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

The effort was hugely appreciated by the Netizens on social media.

Overall, while the Indian team may have faced disappointment in the final, the post-match efforts to manage waste left a positive impact on the society and the environment.
