Mumbai Indians (MI) have become the second side to get knocked out of the IPL 2026 playoffs race after losing to RCB on Sunday. With just three wins from 10 games before this contest, MI desperately needed a win against the defending champions in order to keep their slim hopes of making it to the top four alive. However, that is not the case, as they have been eliminated. Once again, it has been a poor season for the five-time champions. They have three matches left, and even if they win all the three, they will only be able to make it to 12 points, which won’t be enough for them to make it to the top four.
IPL 2026 Points Table
Mumbai Indians remaining IPL 2026 matches
| Date | Match | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| May 20 | vs Kolkata Knight Riders | Kolkata |
| May 24 | vs Rajasthan Royals | Mumbai |
MI, who generally boast a good record at home, have won two of the six matches played at Wankhede Stadium. That has killed the momentum that they gained after the opening win over KKR in their season-opener. Apart from this, MI’s away record has been bad. Since 2021, MI have won just 14 out of the 38 away IPL matches. In IPL 2026, the Mumbai franchise has two away matches left.
